Iguanaland Company commits to Carbon Neutral Land Develoment
In a landmark move the Iguanaland Company announced the signing of a letter of intent to work with the Tropical Sierra Foundation with the goal of reforesting the San Ramón region and becoming the first carbon neutral land developer in Costa Rica. The announcement follows a statement by Costa Rica’s Interior Minister at a recent United Nations conference on global warming in which he/she communicated Costa Rica’s commitment to become the first carbon neutral country in the world.
The Tropical Sierra Foundation (www.tropicalsierra.org) is a non-profit organization whose objective is to reforest Costa Rica and educate its youth and citizens on the importance of protecting the country’s valuable ecological resources. The Foundation is one of Costa Rica’s leading advocates of environmental sustainability and is involved with the planting of over 1,000 trees a day in the country.
